Encore Creativity for Older Adults is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to create meaningful arts experiences supporting lifelong learning, wellness, and fun for all older adults. Through its programs, Encore seeks to create a world where all older adults have a place in the arts. As the nation's largest choral organization for adults over the age of 55, Encore provides over 50 ensembles nationwide for over 2,000 singers ages 55-99. These numbers continue to grow as the organization expands to new markets. Encore is a leading organization in the field of creative aging and its programs include • Encore Chorales: traditional choirs singing choral classics in four-part harmony • Encore ROCKS: groups singing rock ‘n’ roll hits from the 50s, 60s and beyond • Encore on Broadway: participants singing in 4-part harmony to hits from Broadway shows • Arts for Life Ensembles: individuals with cognitive change and their care partners connecting through song • Encore University: online educational classes focusing on key areas of artistic wellness Summary The Artistic Director for Production reports to the Chief Executive Officer and works in tandem with the Artistic Directors for Programming and Lifelong Learning and Research to provide artistic leadership to the organization. The Artistic Director for Production’s specific areas of responsibility are rehearsal and performance logistics, all venues, music distribution and resources. Principal Responsibilities General • Provide consistent, timely, and transparent communication with ensemble coordinators, conductors, office staff and vendors as required • Work closely with Encore Central team to ensure smooth operation of all elements of production • Support regional concerts, mass-chorister events, singer retreats, camps or performance tours as needed • Perform other duties as requested or assigned Concert and Performance Logistics (Regular Season and Special Events) • In conjunction with the Artistic Director for Programming, plan and produce all o Encore regular and mass chorister live public performances o Special community appearances o Retreats, camps, trips and tours including rehearsals, performances, workshops and evening entertainment ▪ Identify, approve, and coordinate all venues, contractors, AV support, and instrumentalists • Develop and maintain the comprehensive performance schedules for each season Rehearsal Venues and Logistics • Coordinate and schedule regular in-person and online rehearsals for all Encore ensembles o Coordinate and confirm all rehearsal venues and schedules including locating and confirming alternate rehearsal venues when needed o Recruit and schedule accompanists and other musicians for all scheduled rehearsals and performances ▪ Build and maintain an up-to-date list of all available musicians ▪ Provide music and other resources required by contracted musicians • Develop and maintain the comprehensive rehearsal schedules for each season Music Distribution and Resources ● Purchase, organize, and distribute all sheet music for o All Ensembles o Pilot programs o Retreats, Camps, Trips and Tours, etc. ● Collect and organize unused sheet music and coordinate return to music distributor for credit ● Coordinate the purchase, production, storage, and distribution of rehearsal resources to all Encore singers and conductors including, but not limited to, o PDF of marked scores o Rehearsal CDs o Digital rehearsal tracks ● Coordinate the capture, editing, storage, and distribution of all online rehearsal recordings according to established timeline ● Mail music to ensemble coordinators and online registrants on a weekly basis, as needed, until registration is closed for the season Qualifications ● Minimum of bachelor’s degree ● Deep understanding of musical and performance logistics ● Understanding of older adult demographics and creative aging ● Exceptional verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills Working Conditions • Full-time position • Remote, based in Washington DC area • Some lifting and use of personal vehicle required • Some local travel required for meetings and events Benefits • Compensation: $65,900 • Health, vision, dental and life insurance • Workers’ compensation • 403(b) retirement plan with match • Paid time off (PTO) • Paid holidays The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
