#1896 - Business Systems Analyst 1
Work as a liaison between stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems. Duties may include: conducting general requirements gathering activities for improvement or automation of simple processes or functions; researching and documenting the current or "as-is" state of the relevant business process or function; utilizing basic requirement elicitation techniques such as individual interviews, surveys, and documentation reviews; functioning as a recording analyst on more complex group interviews; assisting senior analysts in gathering requirements for larger more multi-faceted projects or systems and internal or external interfaces with these systems; creating process, data, or other models utilizing modeling techniques requiring a lower level of training and experience; participating in the implementation of system or interface change and enhancements; conducting specific system tests utilizing test scenarios developed by senior analysts; developing test data and document test results; training on new procedures and software and the creation of procedure manuals; post implementation review and assessment; and identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues for existing systems resulting from errors detected during implementation or in production.
This position is open statewide and can be assigned to one of our regional offices across the state Regional Office or the central office in Albany.

You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1, 52.6, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
For 70.1, 52.6, or 70.4 transfer to a Business Systems Analyst 1, salary grade (SG)-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above, SG-14 or above for a Trainee 2, SG-12 or above for a Trainee 1, depending on qualifications.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

The position may be filled at the Business Systems Analyst Trainee 1 equated to SG-14 ($53,764), Business Systems Analyst Trainee 2 equated to SG-16 ($59,994), or full performance Business Systems Analyst 1 SG-18 ($66,951) based on the candidate’s education, experience, and previous state service. Salary is nonnegotiable.
Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Business Systems Analyst 1 SG-18 following successful completion of the traineeship.
