The Privacy and Legal Data Engineering Opportunity
The Security and Legal Data Engineering case at arenaflex builds flexible data management and extraction frameworks that form the foundation of our ability to maintain the highest data protection and hygiene standards in the industry. As a Data Engineer (L4) on this team, you'll be instrumental in scaling our capacity to construct robust, scalable, privacy-driven data architectures that protect both our users and our business.
You'll work with cutting-edge data technologies including Spark, Voila, Flink, Kafka, and others to build intelligent, resilient, and performant data pipelines. Your responsibilities will include writing ETL jobs to collect and aggregate data, developing high-quality data structures that enable appropriate treatment of client personal information, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure our data practices meet regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do
- Design and Build Data Pipelines: Engineer efficient, scalable, and flexible data pipelines capable of handling both structured and unstructured data at massive scale. You'll create data processing systems that can handle petabytes of information while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Develop Security-First Mindset: Foster a comprehensive understanding of the arenaflex data ecosystem from a security and privacy perspective. You'll become the go-to expert for understanding how data flows through our systems and where privacy safeguards need to be implemented.
- Collaborate with Security Teams: Work closely with security engineering teams to understand product goals and provide data solutions that enable us to respond to client and regulatory data requests efficiently and compliantly.
- Maintain and Optimize: Keep existing datasets and pipelines running smoothly while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement. You'll conduct regular reviews and refinements to ensure our data infrastructure remains best-in-class.

Who You Are
We're looking for candidates who bring a unique combination of technical expertise, privacy passion, and collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have:
- Consumer-Driven Privacy Focus: A genuine passion for consumer-driven data protection and risk mitigation. You should understand that behind every data point is a real person whose trust we must earn and maintain.
- Strong Programming Skills: Deep expertise in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala, with a minimum of 2 years of programming or data engineering experience. You should be comfortable writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Advanced SQL Proficiency: Comfortability with complex SQL queries, optimization techniques, and database design principles.
- Big Data Pipeline Experience: Experience architecting data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Voila, Spark, or Flink on medium to large-scale datasets. You should understand distributed computing principles and be able to apply them effectively.
