Job Summary
The Machine Learning Data Scientist will be responsible for evaluating and improving the performance of multimodal foundation models, utilizing data-driven AI approaches. This will involve working closely with various teams, including ML engineers, data analysts, and ML Infrastructure engineers, to develop and refine methods for assessing and enhancing model performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data science, machine learning, and computer vision, as well as experience in thorough analysis of AI model failures and data and model evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth failure analysis on large multimodal models to identify areas for improvement
- Develop novel evaluation and benchmarking methods for foundation models, drawing from the latest research in the field
- Design and implement tools for data filtering and visualization to support model development and refinement
- Plan and execute experiments (DOE) for designing studies and large-scale user studies
- Collaborate with and support data collection and analysis efforts in conjunction with various teams
- Contribute to defining feature specifications and expected user experience based on data insights
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, statistics) and at least 3 years of significant industry experience
- Solid foundation in data science, machine learning, computer vision, and AI
- Proven expertise in thorough analysis of AI model failures and data and model evaluation
- Proficiency in data-driven AI approaches and experience with various foundation models (e.g., SAM, LLAMA, LLaVA, CGPT4V, Catch)
- High-level proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python
- Experience with scientific tools like Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong collaborative and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in training models using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, etc.
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and experience working with large datasets
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
