Position Overview
The Pharmacist – Centralized Services position is responsible for executing medical service methodologies and driving patient wellness outcomes. This role executes patient intervention pharmacy programs and ensures compliance with clinical pharmacy services. You will be accountable for executing against established partner pharmacy programs, driving pharmacy financial performance by implementing programs that maximize reimbursements while improving patient health outcomes.
Working from a remote setting, you will be responsible for prescription processing, cultivating strong relationships with clinical communities in your assigned area, and serving as a knowledgeable representative and contact of the organization. You will act as an expert resource and consultant to other pharmacy specialists and field leaders while maintaining current knowledge of the pharmacy industry and required licensure.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care Programs: Implement direct patient care programs, including but not limited to Drug Treatment Management programs, Vaccination Services, and Payer and Pharma Adherence and Clinical Projects. These initiatives are designed to provide comprehensive medication therapy management and improve overall patient health outcomes.
- Policy Execution and Business Alignment: Drive the execution of various policies and operations to ensure business needs are being met. Align pharmacy operations with organizational goals while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Compliance and Quality Improvement: Drive compliance and continuous quality improvement in the delivery of clinical pharmacy patient care and services by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; monitoring and analyzing results; and implementing necessary changes. Ensure regional pharmacies comply with regulatory compliance, standard operating procedures, and FDA regulations.
- Financial Performance: Drive local pharmacy financial performance by aligning business strategies with company financial goals. Implement and execute patient intervention pharmacy programs to maximize financial performance while maintaining clinical excellence.
- Patient Experience Enhancement: Support efforts on improving patient experience by increasing focus on healthcare services such as patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and retail, clinical, or wellness services including vaccinations, illness state management, and Specialty programs.
- Team Support and Development: Provide expertise, resources, education, and support to pharmacists and field leadership. Support staff training experiences and development opportunities. Promote collaboration and inspire pharmacy staff by fostering a shared vision and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Clinical Review and Medication Safety: Conduct data and clinical reviews and take necessary actions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of medications. Review drug histories and patient profiles to ensure proper and safe medication therapy. Provide individualized patient/provider consultation.
- Patient Relationship Building: Through use of superior interpersonal skills, win the trust of patients by listening to their concerns and providing a sounding board for pharmacy concerns. Build lasting relationships based on trust, empathy, and clinical expertise.
- Program Evaluation: Provide feedback regarding the effectiveness of the Client Retention Program including comments from patients as the value of individual consultations. Use patient feedback to continuously improve service delivery.
- Clinical Consultation: Be responsible for all inquiries, discussions, and advice which relate directly to patient treatment. Provide clinical advice and information to patients, physicians, and insurance plans as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations. Observe guidelines and procedures for all job responsibilities to meet goals. Comply with company policies and procedures including all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Pharmacist license as granted by the appropriate state licensing authority. Must maintain active and unrestricted licensure throughout employment.
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Leadership Experience: Experience inspiring team members to research and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide pharmacy staff.
- Confidentiality: Experience working with sensitive and confidential information. Must demonstrate strong ethical standards and commitment to patient privacy.
- Flexibility: Able to work non-standard hours, which may include nights, holidays, and/or weekends as required by business needs.
- Time Management: Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of various projects with varying completion dates.
- Autonomy: Experience developing approaches to achieving goals with minimal supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
- Customer Service: Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Travel: Able to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness to obtain additional state pharmacy licenses if necessary to support business operations.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) processes.
- Familiarity with pharmacy operating systems including Radio, Commitment, and Plus platforms.
- Proficient level skills in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, adjusting text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
- Proficient level skills in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: embedding, editing, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, expanding list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing frame view and/or running a slideshow).
- Proficient level skills in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and adjusting text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and paragraph width, formatting, inserting shots, images and dates, using find and replace, fix, spell check, track changes, review sheet and/or print capabilities).
