Position Overview
As the Manager of Data Engineering at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our enterprise data infrastructure on the Azure cloud platform. You will lead a team of skilled data engineers and work cross-functionally with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions that power business intelligence and analytics capabilities across the organization.
This role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in cloud data architecture, ETL processes, and big data technologies. You will be instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive data storage solutions across all layers of data architecture, including data ingestion, storage, and serving layers within the Azure cloud environment
- Architect and develop robust data processing pipelines using industry-leading ETL tools for data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and workflow orchestration
- Implement enterprise-grade data security measures, including role-based access control, data masking, and encryption of sensitive information to ensure compliance and protect organizational assets
- Monitor and optimize data storage and processing systems using advanced monitoring tools, implementing file partitioning strategies, and conducting query tuning for optimal performance
- Lead and execute Azure Synapse Pipelines projects (Azure Data Factory experience also acceptable), working with Synapse Spark Pools, Synapse SQL Pools, and SQL Managed Instances
- Manage stakeholder relationships and drive timely project delivery using Agile methodologies, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives
- Build scalable and resilient technology solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that adapts to evolving business needs
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members by sharing technical expertise, fostering best practices, and supporting professional growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, business analysts, and IT operations to ensure seamless data flow and system integration
- Establish and enforce data governance standards that ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across the organization
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
- Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of Azure cloud technologies with proven experience delivering large-scale projects on time
- Azure Data Pipeline Mastery: Strong proficiency in Azure Synapse Data Pipelines (Azure Data Factory experience also accepted)
- Programming & Query Languages: Strong knowledge of PySpark, Spark SQL, T-SQL, and Cubes
- Agile Delivery: Excellent understanding of Agile methodologies with a track record of delivering consistent project results
- Data Passion: Highly developed data affinity with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Technical Certifications: Ideally, possession of DP-203 certification (Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) or equivalent professional credentials
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Azure Functions (coded in Python) for serverless data processing
- Experience with real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and business intelligence platforms
- Experience in industries with high-volume data processing requirements
- Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and MLOps practices

Compensation & Benefits
