Summary
As a PowerBuilder Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications using PowerBuilder and related technologies. The role involves working across front-end UI and backend services, supporting the full application development lifecycle, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions. This role is strictly involved in the development of the product and does not involve access to Protected Health Information (PHI) & Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or any secured/confidential client data. The work is limited to application development and does not include handling or processing of sensitive health information.
You will contribute to product enhancements, integration initiatives, and modernization efforts, while ensuring adherence to Gainwell development standards and best practices.
Your role in our mission
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using PowerBuilder (latest versions such as PowerBuilder 2022)
Work on both UI (front-end) and backend logic / services development
Develop and consume web services (XML, JSON-based integrations)
Perform code development, debugging, and enhancements for existing and new systems
Analyze system requirements and prepare technical design documentation
Support application integration and data exchange across systems
Participate in product configuration, deployment, and support activities
Work with databases (MS SQL / Oracle) for data access and performance tuning
Collaborate with analysts and architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and integration issues
Ensure compliance with coding standards, quality processes, and documentation practices
Participate in peer reviews, testing, and production support activities
What we're looking for
Required Skill:
5–8 years of experience in application development using PowerBuilder
Strong hands‑on experience with PowerBuilder 2022 or recent versions
Experience in UI development and backend business logic implementation
Strong knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL Server / Oracle)
Experience working with web services, APIs, XML, JSON
Familiarity with source control systems (GIT)
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work independently and handle complex technical challenges
Strong communication skills with ability to interact with stakeholders
Good to have:
Experience with application integration and service-based architectures
Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility guidelines
Experience in US healthcare domain (Medicaid/Medicare)
Exposure to modernization or migration projects (PowerBuilder to web/cloud)
Experience with CI/CD practices and DevOps tools (nice to have)
