Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Emma of Torre.ai is assisting FreightPOP in finding a top candidate for the role of AI Technical Lead Engineer. The successful candidate will lead AI product innovation, overseeing the technical execution of AI initiatives and ensuring alignment with business priorities to enhance the logistics platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical execution of FreightPOP’s AI product initiatives and roadmap
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define and deliver AI-powered capabilities across the platform
- Architect and guide development of AI solutions including copilots, agents, optimization engines, and intelligent automation
- Ensure AI initiatives align with business priorities and deliver measurable value to customers
- Define technical architecture and development standards for AI-powered capabilities
- Evaluate and select appropriate AI/ML tools, frameworks, vector databases, and supporting infrastructure
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency
- Guide integration of AI decisioning with FreightPOP’s core platform systems, including logistics workflows, databases, and operational services
- Act as a hands-on contributor while leading technical direction for AI initiatives
- Prototype and validate AI concepts before scaling into production-ready solutions
- Review implementations to ensure alignment with architectural guidance and engineering best practices
- Provide technical mentorship and direction to engineers contributing to AI initiatives
- Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools, and methodologies
- Champion experimentation and innovation within the engineering organization
- Identify opportunities to improve FreightPOP’s platform through AI-driven automation, optimization, and intelligent decision support
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver AI capabilities rapidly and effectively
- Support rapid iteration cycles typical of AI development
- Help guide development practices that balance experimentation speed with production reliability
Skills
- 8+ years of experience in Software development
- 6+ years of experience in SDLC (Software development life cycle)
- Proficient in TypeScript, Tech leadership, Software architecture, React.js, Python
- English - Fully fluent
- STEM bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years software development experience with SaaS technology
- 6+ years SDLC in an Agile / SCRUM environment
- 4+ years in a Senior or Lead engineering role
- Experience building or integrating AI-powered products or platforms
- Experience designing scalable distributed systems
- Passion for leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies
- Strong understanding of modern AI ecosystems (LLMs, MCPs, agents, embeddings, vector databases)
- Experience building AI-powered software systems or integrating AI capabilities into applications
- Experience designing scalable SaaS architectures and distributed systems
- Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate AI solutions
- Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills
- Experience in evaluating and adopting new technologies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and leadership teams, including in distributed team environments
- Strong curiosity and passion for AI innovation
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving technical environments
- Self-driven problem solver capable of working with ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements
