The Director, Sales Finance will serve as a strategic finance partner for complex deals, leading the Deal Desk team and collaborating with Sales leadership to structure deals that support growth and long-term value.
Responsibilities
- Lead Samsara’s Deal Desk team for Enterprise opportunities, partnering closely with Sales leadership on the company’s largest and most complex deals
- Act as a strategic finance partner on high-impact commercial decisions, helping shape deal structures that support growth while balancing margin, risk, and long-term value
- Develop thoughtful, creative solutions to complex commercial challenges across pricing, payment structures, commercial terms, legal considerations, and product needs, building on the role’s existing scope across those areas
- Influence deal outcomes through strong judgment, financial insight, and effective cross-functional partnership across Sales, Finance, Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Product
- Use data and business insight to support decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen how Samsara evaluates and executes complex deals
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and communicate clearly on complex issues, tradeoffs, and recommendations
- Continuously improve deal processes, governance, and operating rhythms to support scale while maintaining a strong experience for both internal stakeholders and customers
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
- Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team
Skills
- 10+ years of experience across Finance, Deal Desk, Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, commercial strategy, or related functions, with significant exposure to complex transactions
- Demonstrated experience leading complex deal negotiations and navigating cross-functional commercial decisions
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to translate company goals into thoughtful deal strategy and decision frameworks
- A track record of developing creative business solutions while maintaining strong financial discipline
- Proven ability to hire, lead, and develop high-performing teams
- Ability to work effectively with senior management and customer-facing leaders, distill complex issues, and influence business decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and support recurring business performance reviews
- Experience leading a Deal Desk or related function within a high-growth SaaS business at scale
- Experience partnering directly with Sales leadership on large, complex, or non-standard transactions
- A strong interest in using AI and automation to improve how teams work, with experience identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort
- Familiarity with AI tools from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Glean, or similar technologies, and a practical mindset for applying them in day-to-day work
- Familiarity with CRM, CPQ, and CLM tools, as well as downstream systems and reporting environments, Salesforce, and Netsuite
