Millig Design Build is an engineering-led design-build firm specializing in facility improvements that transform aging structures into high-performance environments. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design HVAC systems and support decarbonization planning while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Lead MEP Design: Spearhead the design and development of MEP systems for diverse building projects. Prepare, modify, and finalize engineering documents, including drawings and specifications, using Revit and AutoCAD. Confidently finalize the selection of equipment and materials for complex HVAC installations
- Drive Engineering & Analysis: Lead the technical analysis, calculations, and simulations for system loads and performance. Resolve issues impacting the budget, scope, and schedule by evaluating alternate schemes and implementing value engineering options to mitigate project risks
- Master Auditing & Site Assessment: Support the completion of preliminary and detailed facility studies to identify high-impact energy conservation opportunities and required system renewal projects
- Collaborate for Integrated Delivery: Coordinate seamlessly with subconsultants, designers, vendors, and contractors to ensure all project requirements are met. Work hand-in-hand with our in-house construction and estimating teams to develop, review, and iterate on cost estimates and design concepts
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and willing to obtain licensure in other states as needed
- 7+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer focused on building systems
- Strong project management skills for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meeting deadlines
- Strong, expert-level knowledge of HVAC principles and a deep understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to HVAC, controls, and plumbing systems
- A strong working knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and the expertise to design them to optimize system performance
- Proven experience with Bluebeam, CAD, Revit, and industry-standard load calculation software
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Self-starter who thrives in a team-oriented environment
- Licenses in CO and WA are highly preferred
- Familiarity with designing controls, electrical, and plumbing systems in addition to mechanical systems is preferred
