U.S. Forensic, LLC is a company that assists commercial and industrial clients by performing forensic evaluations and expert witness testimony. They are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Forensic Engineer to conduct independent investigations and prepare technical reports, while collaborating with various stakeholders and traveling to inspection sites.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent forensic investigations and failure analyses involving mechanical systems, building components, plus equipment
- Perform field inspections and investigate failures involving mechanical and/or electrical systems including HVAC systems, plumbing, machinery, appliances, consumer products, vehicles, heavy equipment, fire suppression systems, and fires
- Collect, document, plus preserve physical evidence from loss or incident scenes
- Analyze data using engineering principles, industry standards, plus accepted forensic methodologies
- Determine root cause and contributing factors of failures or damage
- Prepare detailed, scientifically accurate, plus concise technical reports documenting findings plus conclusions
- Collaborate with clients, legal teams, insurance carriers, plus internal staff
- Provide deposition or testimony support as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations, plus forensic engineering best practices
- Travel approximately 25% for inspections and site visits
- Other duties as assigned

- Experience conducting independent forensic investigations involving mechanical systems, machinery, equipment, plumbing components, and vehicles
- Ability to perform field inspections and investigate failures involving mechanical and/or electrical systems including HVAC systems, plumbing, machinery, appliances, consumer products, vehicles, heavy equipment, fire suppression systems, and fires
- Skills in collecting, documenting, and preserving physical evidence from loss or incident scenes
