Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. UHY Resource Solutions Group is a national finance and accounting talent practice serving the Office of the CFO. They are seeking a Business Development Director who will focus on identifying and winning new client relationships, particularly within mid-market and upper mid-market organizations, while also building and deepening existing client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities across mid-market and upper mid-market organizations, with a primary focus on the Office of the CFO
- Develop and execute targeted outreach strategies that lead with the prospect’s world—naming the patterns and pressures finance leaders face rather than leading with our services
- Initiate first conversations with CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, Controllers, and Directors of Finance through disciplined, consistent prospecting activity
- Build a qualified pipeline of new opportunities through networking, referrals, industry events, and direct outreach
- Guide prospects through a discovery process that surfaces real needs and creates momentum without pressure—keeping control with the leader at every step
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned accounts, bridging the client’s talent needs with RSG’s integrated service model (interim staffing, project consulting, and direct hire)
- Maintain regular contact with existing clients to anticipate emerging needs, identify transitions, and expand engagement across the finance function
- Coordinate with recruiting, delivery, and UHY advisory teams to ensure seamless execution and client satisfaction
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across UHY’s broader advisory, tax, and consulting practices
- Attend industry events, conferences, and executive networking functions as a credible representative of UHY’s CPA firm platform
- Deliver RSG’s message with consistency and clarity—every conversation is a brand touchpoint
- Contribute market intelligence, competitive insights, and strategic account planning to RSG leadership
- Track and report on business development activity, pipeline health, and revenue performance through Salesforce/Bullhorn CRM systems
- Participate in RSG’s ongoing sales training program, including role-play practice, coaching sessions, and methodology development
- Supervise and mentor junior business development team members as the practice scales
Skills
- 8+ years of business development or sales experience with a demonstrated track record of originating new client relationships in professional services, staffing, or consulting
- A hunter mentality—proven ability to prospect, create first meetings, and convert new business, not just manage existing accounts
- Strong understanding of the Office of the CFO—including the roles, pressures, and decision-making dynamics of CFOs, Controllers, Directors of Finance, and senior accounting managers
- Excellent communication skills—able to speak credibly about accounting, reporting, close processes, and financial operations
- Comfort with outbound prospecting, networking, and initiating relationships where none previously existed
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce/Bullhorn preferred) and disciplined pipeline management
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- CPA designation or public accounting background (attest, advisory, or consulting)
- Experience within a CPA firm, Big Four, or national professional services environment
- Prior experience in finance/accounting staffing or consulting sales (e.g., RGP, Kforce, Robert Half, Sirius Solutions, or similar)
- Familiarity with consultative or insight-led selling approaches
- Experience managing or mentoring business development professionals
