Sentara Health is a healthcare organization that is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to oversee and manage tax compliance and planning functions. The role involves preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring adherence to regulations, and identifying tax-saving opportunities while collaborating with other departments.
Responsibilities
• Prepare complex exempt organization information returns and unrelated business income tax filings; corporate income tax returns including a mixed consolidated group return; and multi-state returns; and state and local non-income tax filings
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax and information returns and other business-related filings
• Prepare GAAP and statutory income tax provisions, estimated tax payments, and account reconciliations
• Respond to tax schedule requests and other inquiries from internal systems and external auditors
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in tax procedures
• Perform tax research in a variety of areas including exempt organization, corporate tax, payroll, sales/use tax, and other relevant issues
• Stay current on legislative, judicial, and administrative developments that affect the organization’s tax compliance
• Communicate with federal, state, and local taxing authorities to support issue resolutions
• Collaborate on organizational initiatives with potential tax implications
Skills
• Bachelor's Level Degree in Accounting (Required)
• 3 years minimum related experience required
• Strong knowledge of healthcare taxation
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to provide strategic tax planning and advice
• CPA strongly preferred
