HighLevel is a company focused on providing innovative solutions in the finance sector, and they are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to oversee compliance and filing of various tax returns. The role involves optimizing tax software, monitoring tax laws, supporting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure tax compliance as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end preparation, review, and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual domestic sales & use tax and international VAT/GST returns, business licenses and property tax filings
- Serve as the internal contact for tax software configurations; proactively maintaining and refining indirect tax calculation and reporting systems to provide seamless, automated workflows for the organization
- Monitor and analyze domestic and international tax laws regarding digital goods, SaaS, and economic nexus to ensure proactive compliance as HighLevel expands
- Support the team through indirect tax audits by efficiently managing IDRs and partnering with leadership to advocate for and defend established tax positions
- Prepare and review monthly tax accruals and perform balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts within NetSuite
- Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of customer tax exemption certificates
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Billing and Legal teams to evaluate the taxability of new product rollouts, software features, and bundle offerings
Skills
- 5 years of progressive experience in indirect tax (Sales & Use, VAT, GST), preferably with a mix of public accounting and corporate experience
- Strong familiarity with software-as-a-service (SaaS) taxability rules, digital products, and sourcing rules
- Experience managing tax calculations and reporting within tax software systems and NetSuite ERP
- Advanced Excel skills (pivots, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation) and the ability to handle massive, high-volume transactional datasets
- Ability to identify and spearhead opportunities to leverage AI-based tools to streamline and automate processes and surface insights
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Ability to pivot quickly when priorities change and navigate fast organizational growth as an exciting challenge rather than a roadblock
- Proven track record of digging into data to not only identify tax issues but actively propose and execute automated solutions
- Skilled at translating complex tax regulations into plain English for non-finance stakeholders, alongside strong documentation skills for future reference and audit support
- Knowledge of Stripe Tax
- CPA designation or Master of Taxation degree
