Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It is the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

A bit about the role

We are looking for a Senior Content Designer to lead content strategy and standards for Parent Talk, Action for Children’s digital parenting service, while influencing content quality and practice across the organisation.

While this role is primarily focused on Parent Talk, Action for Children’s digital parenting support service, you will also work across the organisation, supporting other services, products and teams to improve the quality, consistency and effectiveness of their content.

About Parent Talk

Parent Talk is Action for Children’s digital parenting support service. It provides practical, evidence‑based information, advice and one‑to‑one support for parents and carers, covering topics from everyday parenting challenges to highly sensitive and complex issues.

The service is shaped closely with frontline practitioners and parent coaches, and content is continuously tested and improved using insight, feedback and real parent needs.

About content design

Content design at Action for Children is about designing content that genuinely works for people. It combines user research, clear language, accessibility and iteration to make complex or sensitive information understandable, usable and supportive.

Content design goes beyond writing. You’ll shape whole content journeys, set standards, influence ways of working and help teams across the charity produce content that meets user needs and organisational goals.

Working with sensitive content

The subject matter covered by Parent Talk can be complex, personal and sensitive. You’ll regularly pair‑write with parent coaches and so this role requires listening, care, judgement and professionalism when shaping content together.
