Welcome to the Supported Hunt Information team at arenaflex. We are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, datasets, and ETL processes for arenaflex's Sponsored Search Advertising platform. We collaborate seamlessly with various teams across the organization to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability for analysis and reporting—empowering sponsors to leverage our self-serve platform effectively.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position available for both night and day shifts, offering the flexibility to work remotely from the comfort of your home. What You'll Bring to arenaflex
We're looking for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is eager to contribute to our mission of revolutionizing retail through technology. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven expertise in data engineering concepts, including database design, ETL processes, and data mining techniques. You should have a deep understanding of how to transform raw data into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in working with data technologies including SQL, Python, Flash, Scala, Hadoop, and related tools and platforms. You must be comfortable writing efficient queries and developing robust data processing scripts.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow (originally mentioned as Apache Wind current). You should understand the fundamentals of orchestrating complex data workflows.
- Strong skills working with relational databases like Azure SQL (originally Sky blue SQL) and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra. You need to understand when to use each type of database and how to optimize performance.
- Experience with real-time text processing using Apache Kafka. You should be familiar with building event-driven architectures and streaming data pipelines.
- Experience in designing and implementing data models for efficient storage and retrieval. You should understand data modeling best practices and be able to create schemas that support both performance and scalability.
- A growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to raise the technical bar, identify opportunities for improving existing processes, tools, and systems to achieve high scale and productivity.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Experience with Cloud Computing Services like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, as well as Distributed Storage Systems like Hive and Versatile Search.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences. You should be comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
- A strong sense of responsibility and ownership, self-discipline, and focus on delivering high-quality results, combined with a team-oriented approach that values design thinking, efficiency, and innovation.
How You Will Make an Impact at arenaflex
As a Senior Data Engineer on our team, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers arenaflex's digital advertising ecosystem. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Building and maintaining robust, flexible data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing high-volume data to support advertising on arenaflex.com and its subsidiaries. You'll ensure our data infrastructure can handle millions of transactions daily.
- Working on cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform for data storage, processing, and analysis. You'll leverage the full power of these cloud environments to build scalable, cost-effective solutions.
- Creating and deploying large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in public clouds like Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. You'll ensure our applications are portable, scalable, and easily maintainable.
- Collaborating with other Scrum teams, QA, Product, Program Management, and Partner Operations, while working alongside cross-functional enterprise development teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participating in 24/7 on-call rotations to investigate production issues across cross-functional teams. You'll be responsible for ensuring system reliability and quickly resolving any incidents that arise.
