As an Intelligent Data Platform (IDP) Databricks Champion within our Integrated Center of Excellence Data & AI Practice, you'll leverage a client-centric approach to understand our client’s challenges and opportunities to deliver solutions and services that make transformative change and deliver high value business outcomes. You'll engage in solutioning and support on the most strategic opportunities, intervene in high-risk complex deliveries, and contribute to shape the strategic direction using data platforms, reporting, self-service analytics, real time intelligence and AI engineering.
The successful candidate must be capable of partnering across global Regions to lead presales engagements, architect solutions and deliver enterprise data solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure and Databricks. This role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and strategic partnership development—especially with Databricks—to drive business outcomes and innovation in our Data and AI client engagements.

What you’ll do
Work closely with delivery teams and client stakeholders to provide technical leadership, shape deals and propositions, drive architectural decisions, create plans and roadmaps, and produce design artifacts
Lead pre-sales, solution planning and solution design efforts for sales pursuits related to the Data Platform Modernization offering
Drive our partner relationships including those with Databricks and Accenture at the offering level
Play a key role shaping the high-level design, estimates, and contractual details for client proposals in collaboration with other subject matter experts in the business
As a senior member of the Avanade technical community, you will provide coaching and mentoring to motivate and inspire more junior colleagues from within your team and across the organization
Translate complex technical concepts and solutions and present them in fit for audience language and value-based outcomes, to senior business stakeholders, technology leaders and internal sales teams.
When required, address client delivery issues, ensuring the quality of offerings and solutions in the region.
Engage in early conversations with clients and/or sales team and support origination and deal qualification, requirements capture and solutioning, recommending best practices and approaches to achieve optimal outcomes, building strong relationship with clients to become the trusted advisor.
Work collaboratively with the wider Data & AI leadership to provide thought leadership and PoV’s to help shape our current and future offerings, accelerators, and background IP to support GTM activities
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Data and AI technologies and incorporate relevant innovations into our solutions.
Help integrate Data & AI into the other Global Solution Areas (Modern Workplace, Apps & Infrastructure, and Business Applications), offerings and go-to-market initiatives
Support and work on Assets and Engineering projects internally to Avanade when needed to continue our differentiated approach within the market.
Drive adoption of Delta Lake, Lakehouse, and MLflow for advanced analytics and machine learning use cases.
Establish best practices for data governance, lineage, and metadata management within the Databricks environment.
Translate business needs into robust data products that support real-time decision-making and predictive modelling.
Lead performance tuning, cost optimization, and security hardening of Databricks on Azure.

Skills and experiences
Management Consulting & SI Experience strongly preferred.
Effective leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across teams and functions.
Experience architecting and delivering end-to-end data solutions using Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, ML/AI workloads).
Hands-on experience with data pipeline design, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and real-time analytics.
Familiarity with governance tools (Unity Catalog), open data formats (Delta Lake, Parquet), and data mesh principles.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
Experience building and maintaining strategic partnerships with technology vendors (Databricks, Microsoft).
Ability to develop reusable frameworks, reference architectures, and accelerators for data solutions.
Comfortable leading technical teams and mentoring junior staff.

You likely possess an advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or machine learning. At Avanade we also support an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications required
Experience working with large complex enterprise accounts architecting cloud solutions for data estate workloads and implementing large scale data projects within the cloud environment
Ability to orchestrate, lead, and influence remote teams, ensuring successful implementation of customer projects
Passionate about tech and engaging with and advising clients
Location: This role is flexible within the U.S., with preference for candidates located within commuting distance of an Avanade office to support collaboration and client engagement.
Travel: Occasional travel required for client engagements, team collaboration, or business meetings.
