Summary Informated Software Solutions, based in Rockville, Maryland, has proudly supported the Smithsonian Institution for over 20 years. We are seeking a senior Salesforce contractor to support the Smithsonian Institution's Office of Digital and Innovation with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud data development, data management, integrations, and platform enhancement work. This role focuses on Salesforce data architecture, data modeling, data migration, and data quality/governance across Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Nonprofit Cloud, D360, API-driven web interfaces, authentication, and Agentforce. The selected contractor will design and manage scalable, secure data models, address large data volume performance risks, and implement data migration, integration, and governance strategies using tools such as Data Loader and AWS Glue Zero Copy ETL. This is a full-time, remote, U.S.-based 1099 contract role expected to run 12+ months. Work must be performed within the United States during U.S. business hours, with availability for scheduled Smithsonian team meetings. No visa sponsorship, including H-1B transfer, is available for this position. Role Description • We are seeking a senior Salesforce professional with extensive, dedicated experience in Salesforce platform development, Nonprofit Cloud administration and development, Salesforce data modeling, data migration, and enterprise data management. • The selected candidate will design, develop, deploy, administer, and enhance Salesforce solutions that support secure, scalable, high-performing data models and integrations across Salesforce and related toolsets. • The selected candidate will work collaboratively with Smithsonian internal teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, implement solutions, document technical designs and configurations, and provide ongoing support, training, and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and deploy solutions using Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Nonprofit Cloud, D360, API-driven web interfaces, authentication, and Agentforce. • Design, build, and configure secure, scalable Salesforce data models using objects, fields, relationships, automations, security settings, and Nonprofit Cloud components. • Manage large data volumes and address performance risks, including record locking, sharing recalculations, storage limits, and operational/user load considerations. • Plan and execute data migration, cleanup, remediation, archival, optimization, and validation using tools such as Data Loader, D360, AWS Glue Zero Copy ETL, APIs, middleware, or other ETL tools. • Define and apply data quality standards and management practices, including matching, de-duplication, data enhancement, and ongoing data quality monitoring. • Establish data governance, controls, monitoring frameworks, and documentation to safeguard sensitive data and support compliance with regulations such as GDPR. • Analyze, remediate, prepare, and optimize existing data sets and Salesforce data models into unified, high-performing solutions that support Salesforce and related toolsets. • Administer and enhance the Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud environment, including configuration, automation, security management, and platform support. • Design, implement, test, troubleshoot, and document integrations between Salesforce and related systems using APIs, middleware, ETL tools, and automated workflows. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, implement solutions, support users, and provide training and knowledge transfer. • Produce technical documentation, configuration records, support procedures, and regular progress updates for the project manager and key stakeholders. Required Skills • 7+ years of professional Salesforce platform experience, including administration, configuration, development, and enhancement of Salesforce solutions for business processes. • 3+ years of hands-on delivery experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and/or Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). • Demonstrable, project-level experience managing large data volumes, executing Salesforce data migrations, and designing Salesforce data models in production environments. • Salesforce Platform: Proven experience administering and enhancing Salesforce to support business processes, including declarative tools, security configuration, sharing, data access controls, and the creation and maintenance of objects, fields, relationships, and automations. • Data Management and Integration: Strong experience with data migration, data remediation, data validation, external system integrations using APIs, middleware, or ETL tools, and data quality management. • Nonprofit Cloud Administration and Development: Hands-on experience configuring, customizing, and administering Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud or Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) solutions for nonprofit needs. • Data Modeling / Database Design and Analysis: Expert experience designing, analyzing, and managing secure, high-performing Salesforce data models, including large data volume and performance-oriented data architecture. • Data Archival and Storage Management: Ability to apply best practices and practical solutions, such as read-only archived data versus live data, to maintain access to needed information while managing Salesforce storage limits and performance. • Experience applying data governance practices, sensitive data controls, monitoring processes, and compliance-aware data management practices. • Strong technical documentation, communication, stakeholder collaboration, and knowledge-transfer skills. Preferred Skills • Experience with Salesforce D360, Salesforce Data Cloud, or related Salesforce data management capabilities. • Experience with AWS Glue Zero Copy ETL, enterprise ETL tools, middleware, or data warehouse integration patterns. • Experience with Agentforce, Salesforce authentication, API-driven web interfaces, or Salesforce-integrated digital products. • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Platform Developer I or II, Data Architect, Sharing and Visibility Architect, Integration Architect, or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant. • Experience working in enterprise, public-sector, nonprofit, museum, education, or government-adjacent environments. Work Authorization and Eligibility • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship, including H-1B transfer or future sponsorship, is not available for this position. • All work must be performed within the United States. • The selected candidate must be able to successfully complete a Smithsonian background/suitability check prior to receiving system access. The engagement is contingent on passing this check.
