Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Systems Development Engineer to join our OISL Test Automation team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our systems for high-volume production, meeting cross-discipline requirements, and driving the development of innovative software, firmware, and hardware architectures. Key Responsibilities
As a Systems Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of test system validation, software/hardware integration testing, and innovative software/firmware/hardware architectures and flows for multiple manufacturing test lines
- Reviewing and analyzing data using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar, and providing insights to inform design and testing decisions
- Supporting and organizing the release of software and hardware system documents through gate reviews, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Investigating and troubleshooting yield issues during prototype and production builds, and developing corrective actions to improve overall system performance
- Writing status and build reports for cross-functional review, and communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Driving and prioritizing the execution of system test campaigns, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes
- Designing and developing software/scripting test setups and supporting hardware for various subsystem validation of the satellite bus
- Identifying and analyzing cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale
- Driving cross-functional schedules, test requirements, specifications, and limits with the hardware development team, and ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives
- Working concurrently with design engineers to provide design for testability (DFT) feedback throughout the design process, and supporting production and integration efforts for hardware subsystems
- Defining test strategy, implementing and optimizing test setup/processes at the CM, including design and qualification of test fixtures, test equipment, and test software
- Developing procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides to support production, and ensuring that all processes are documented and followed
- Developing and communicating system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validation
- Traveling domestically and internationally as needed to support project requirements and collaborate with global teams

Basic Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience with test automation frameworks and tools
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and software development principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
