Upslope Advisors is seeking an Emergency Management Subject Matter Expert to support an upcoming FEMA National Preparedness training contract. This key personnel role is a strong fit for a professional with emergency management expertise who can independently review training content, provide practical recommendations, and support high-quality preparedness programs.
This position is contingent upon successful contract award.
Responsibilities
- Provide evaluation, consultation, guidance, and direction in specialized areas of emergency management.
- Consult with project teams, customers, and Government officials regarding process, content, and deliverables.
- Contribute subject matter expertise, identify best practices, and translate technical concepts for stakeholder use.
- Provide verbal and written recommendations to support course review, program improvement, and mission outcomes.
- Review course materials and related training content for accuracy, appropriateness, and relevance.
- Participate in reviews of instructor materials, participant materials, visual presentations, handouts, examinations, and related content.
- Complete assigned review work independently and within established timelines.
- Support continuous improvement of course review and recertification processes.
- May support research projects, educational activities, staff evaluations, and liaison efforts with partner organizations and Government agencies.
Education
High school diploma required. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the diploma.
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in a related discipline required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or under general direction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Experience in emergency management, homeland security, first responder training, disaster operations, or related mission areas preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to serve as key personnel for the duration of contract performance.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with project teams, customers, and Government representatives.
- Must be able to support remote work and travel for onsite reviews or related program activities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting emergency management, preparedness, homeland security, or first responder communities.
- Experience reviewing course materials, training content, or exercise support products in a federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial environment.
- Ability to provide practical written assessments and concise recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Security
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
