Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated High School Math Tutor to join our team in Chattanooga, TN, and the surrounding areas including Ooltewah, Harrison, and Hixson. This is a part-time position that offers flexible hours and the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' academic journeys.
As a High School Math Tutor at arenaflex, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive mathematics instruction to high school students, helping them master key concepts in algebra, geometry, calculus, and general high school mathematics. Additionally, you will assist students with homework preparation, test preparation, and concept reinforcement to ensure they build a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
As a valued member of the arenaflex team, you will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities with professionalism, dedication, and enthusiasm:
- Deliver Personalized Instruction: Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions in high school mathematics, adapting your teaching methods to meet each student's individual learning style, academic level, and personal goals. Sessions should be engaging, interactive, and tailored to address specific areas of difficulty or enrichment.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in teaching high school math subjects including but not limited to:
- Algebra (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Pre-Algebra)
- Geometry (Euclidean geometry, coordinate geometry, and geometric proofs)
- Calculus (Differential calculus, integral calculus, and introductory calculus concepts)
- General High School Mathematics
- Homework Preparation and Test Preparation
- Session Documentation: Prepare and submit detailed session reports for our office and families within twenty-four hours of each tutoring session. These reports should include topics covered, student progress, areas for improvement, and recommendations for future sessions.
- Lesson Planning: Develop comprehensive lesson plans for each tutoring session that align with the student's curriculum, academic goals, and learning objectives. Lesson plans should include specific learning outcomes, teaching strategies, practice problems, and assessment methods.
- Time Management: Effectively balance tutoring hours for each assigned student, ensuring that all scheduled sessions are conducted punctually and that instructional time is maximized for learning efficiency.
- Student Assessment: Continuously evaluate student progress through informal assessments, quizzes, and observation. Use assessment data to adjust teaching strategies and provide targeted support in areas where students struggle.

Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Educational Background: A minimum of an associate degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent experience and demonstrated expertise in mathematics may be considered in lieu of formal education credentials.
- Teaching Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the education field is required. Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or specialized education is strongly preferred.
- Subject Matter Proficiency: Demonstrated strong knowledge of high school mathematics curricula, including algebra, geometry, calculus, and standardized test content.
