As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will lead complex tax engagements, mentor team members, and enhance client relationships while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complex individual and business tax returns, including multi-state compliance
- Identify and apply appropriate book-to-tax adjustments, leveraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Lead tax research efforts and apply guidance to client-specific scenarios
- Support advanced tax planning and advisory engagements
- Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for clients
- Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Communicate complex accounting and tax matters in a clear, client-friendly manner
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members
- Ensure deliverables meet firm standards, policies, and deadlines
- Support onboarding and training of new hires
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting and tax workflows
- Contribute to documentation, standardization, and best practices
- Support firm leadership with special projects and strategic initiatives
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5+ years of combined public accounting and tax experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax principles
- Advanced proficiency with accounting and tax software
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring and developing team members
- Strong analytical thinking and sound professional judgment
- High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members
- Master's in Tax or an MBA with a tax concentration preferred
- Experience with the CCH Axcess suite strongly preferred
