Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design and implement complex data solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, cloud platforms (particularly AWS), and modern data pipeline architectures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with diverse teams, and continuously learning new technologies.
This position is offered as a remote work environment, giving you the flexibility to work from home while staying connected to our corporate ecosystem. During the initial training period and for required meetings or team gatherings, occasional travel may be necessary. Apart from these planned visits, the majority of your work can be conducted remotely from your home office.
Important Note: While this is a remote position, certain states and territories are not eligible for off-site work arrangements. The following locations are currently not permitted for this role: Alaska, Delaware, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing data solutions that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements. Your primary duties will include:
- Data Architecture & Design: Collect, design, and implement large-scale, complex data sets that meet comprehensive business requirements. You will work to understand both the technical and business aspects of data needs to create optimal solutions.
- Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources using AWS and SQL technologies. Ensure data pipelines are robust, scalable, and performant.
- Process Optimization: Identify, plan, and execute internal process improvements, including re-architecting infrastructure for greater scalability, enhancing data delivery mechanisms, and automating manual processes to improve efficiency.
- Analytics & Insights: Develop analytical tools to leverage data pipelines, providing valuable insights into key business performance metrics such as operational efficiency and customer acquisition. Create dashboards and reports that drive strategic decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders including Data Science, Design, Product, and Executive teams. Assist them with data-related technical issues and ensure their data infrastructure needs are met effectively.
- Technical Leadership: Lead and provide expertise to functional project teams, participating in cross-functional initiatives. Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices and knowledge sharing.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving: Utilize independent judgment within broadly defined policies and procedures to determine the best approach for accomplishing work objectives. Proactively identify issues and develop effective solutions.
- Vendor Management: Work with external vendors and partners, helping to provide them with effective solutions and insights. Ensure seamless integration between arenaflex systems and external platforms.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and recommend enhancements to existing systems and processes. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in building data pipelines and working with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Database Skills: Extensive experience with SQL technologies, including query optimization, database design, and data modeling.
- Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or similar) commonly used in data engineering contexts.
- Data Engineering Fundamentals: Understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify complex issues and develop effective solutions using logic and reasoning.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Authorization: U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the United States is required. No current or future work authorization sponsorship is available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience in the airline, travel, or transportation industry.
- Advanced degree in a related technical field.
- Certification in AWS (Solutions Architect, Data Analytics, or similar).

Compensation & Benefits
