What You'll Do: Technical Leadership in Data Pipeline Engineering
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will serve as a technical cornerstone of our data infrastructure team. Your contributions will directly impact the scalability, reliability, and performance of our advertising platform. Here's what you can expect to accomplish in this role:
- Design and Build Robust Data Pipelines: Create and maintain flexible, scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing massive volumes of data. Your systems will support sponsored advertising on arenaflex.com and its subsidiaries, processing petabytes of data to deliver real-time bidding capabilities and performance analytics.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Work extensively with leading cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data storage, processing, and analysis. Leverage serverless computing, managed databases, and cloud-native services to build cost-effective, highly available data solutions.
- Containerized Application Deployment: Design and deploy large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Build microservices architectures that can scale automatically based on demand, ensuring our advertising systems remain responsive during peak traffic periods.
- ETL Process Development: Develop and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes that efficiently move data between disparate sources and destinations. Ensure data quality, consistency, and timeliness across all pipelines.
- Database Architecture: Design and implement data models for efficient storage and retrieval. Work with both relational databases (Sky blue SQL and similar platforms) and NoSQL databases like Cassandra to choose the right technology for each use case.
- Real-Time Data Processing: Implement streaming data pipelines using Apache Kafka for real-time event processing. Handle high-throughput data streams and ensure low-latency processing for time-sensitive advertising decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, QA engineers, program management, and partner operations teams to deliver integrated solutions. Work alongside cross-functional enterprise development teams to ensure seamless data flows across the organization.
- On-Call Support: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to investigate and resolve production issues across cross-functional teams. Be part of a shared responsibility model that ensures system reliability and quick incident response.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, tools, and systems. Propose and implement improvements that increase scale, performance, and developer productivity.

Essential Qualifications:
- Data Engineering Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in data engineering concepts, database design, ETL processes, and data mining techniques. You should have a deep understanding of data pipeline architecture patterns and best practices.
- Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and analysis. Experience with Python for data processing and automation. Familiarity with Scala or Java for building robust data applications.

- Stream Processing: Experience with real-time text processing using Apache Kafka for building event-driven architectures.
- Data Modeling: Experience designing and implementing data models for efficient storage and retrieval, with understanding of normalization, denormalization, and dimensional modeling techniques.
- Containerization: Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment and orchestration.
- Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing services including Google GCP and Microsoft Azure. Understanding of cloud-native data services, serverless computing, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable explaining data architectures and pipeline designs to stakeholders at all levels.
